Wild Blueberry Smoothie by Helen Agresti, R.D.

Wild Blueberry Smoothie

The Wild Blueberries in this deliciously refreshing smoothie provides 2x the antioxidants, omega-3s, and anti-aging phytochemicals than most smoothies.  This superfruit smoothie is also packed with potassium, protein and fiber, which will keep you energized and satisfied until your next meal.

 

In a blender add…

•    1 c crushed ice
•    1 c frozen Wild Blueberries
•    1 medium frozen banana
•    3/4 c unsweetened almond milk
•    2 tsp honey
•    1 tsp chia seeds

Blend and enjoy!

Healthy and Refreshing!

Beat the summer heat with these healthy and refreshing smoothies!

Summer Smoothie
6oz non-fat honey greek yogurt
1/2 banana
1 ripe mango
1/2 cup pineapple
1/8 cup coconut water
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Combine ingredients and blend until smooth

Vegan “Ice Cream” Smoothie
2 ripe bananas
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
Agave syrup to taste (*depending on how sweet you want it to be)
Handful of ice cubes

Combine ingredients and blend until smooth

Fruit-Inspired Recipes by Kathy Smart

As warmer weather comes our way, more fresh fruit choices will appear in the grocery store. Try these easy and healthy recipes for the entire family.

 

 

 

Banana’s For Chocolate

- 2 large bananas
- 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup peanut butter- unsweetened
- Unsweetened coconut flakes

Directions:
Cut bananas into chunks, melt chocolate and peanut butter in a saucepan- cover bananas with the chocolate coating-place on a plate with parchment paper and you can spoon additional melted chocolate if you desire- sprinkle with coconut or even chunk sea salt- freeze for 1 hour or until hard

I Scream for Raspberries

Directions:
Freeze 1 cup of raspberries and 1 banana- puree in a blender and voila! If you find a little hard to blend just add a touch of coconut milk or almond milk to help the blades.

Kathy’s Parfait

-1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
-1/2 cup fresh or frozen berries of your choice (I prefer blackberries or blueberries !)
-3-4 tablespoons of granola
-1 tsp of pure maple syrup.

Directions:
in large glass or mug, layer yogurt, berries, granola then drizzle maple syrup ! Enjoy!

Inspired by beautiful golden sunsets and incredible athletes striving for the gold, this simple smoothie is the perfect sweet treat.  Fuel your body with nutrition to reach your own personal best. Enjoy before any outdoor activity or adventure this summer or use as a post-workout snack.

What you’ll need-

6oz non-fat honey greek yogurt
1/2 banana
1 ripe mango
1/2 cup pineapple
1/8 cup coconut water
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Simply combine all ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth and enjoy!
